This unforgettable adventure, from the Sele Valley’s wild mountains to the enchanting beauty of the Amalfi and Cilento Coasts, takes you through stunning rock formations, picturesque villages, and beautiful nature in the heart of Southern Italy. This trip is designed for beginners with little or no previous climbing experience who want to enjoy exciting climbing in scenic environments, discover fascinating historical sites, and experience authentic Italian culture.

About the Destination

The base camp for this trip is the charming village of Caposele nestled at the beginning of the Sele Valley, in the undiscovered verdant heart of Campania. Caposele is surrounded by majestic mountains, limestone cliffs, water springs, vineyards, and groves of olive trees, giving a picturesque and peaceful atmosphere. The area is known for its wild and beautiful nature and for the river Sele which from Caposele crosses the valley to the ancient Greek city of Paestum on the Cilento Coast. In Caposele and the Sele Valley, you can enjoy the authentic Italian countryside and experience genuine Southern Italian hospitality.

Who is this trip for?

This climbing trip is designed for beginners with no previous climbing experience or who have only done top rope climbing at a low level.  An experienced instructor will take you to rocks of gradually increasing difficulty. He will be with you every step of the climb, to ensure a safe and rewarding experience. A basic level of physical fitness is required to complete the trip.

  1. Day 1 Welcome to Caposele

     

    • Transfer with a private bus from the airport to the accommodation in Caposele
    • Dinner
  2. Day 2 Basic techniques and top rope climbing

     

    • After breakfast, you will be transferred to the San Vito climbing area in Caposele, a characteristic limestone monolith with a small 17th-century church dedicated to San Vito. This climbing area offers several climbing routes with varying degrees of difficulty and a fantastic view of the Sele Valley
    • In today’s session, you will climb easy routes perfect for learning basic techniques and getting familiar with climbing. The instructor will teach you about equipment, belay techniques, basic climbing techniques, and everything else you need to safely engage in outdoor climbing on your own
    • Picnic lunch
    • In the afternoon you continue to explore the cliffs with top rope climbing
    • Stretching section
    • City walk and visit San Gerardo Basilica, a pilgrimage site dedicated to Saint Gerardo Maiella, the patron saint of mothers and children. The square near the basilica offers amazing views of the Sele Valley.
    • Dinner on your own
  3. Day 3 More climbing and belaying techniques

    • After breakfast, you will be transferred to the San Vito climbing area in Caposele
    • Today’s session focuses a little extra on the climbing and belaying technique
    • Picnic lunch
    • In the afternoon you continue to explore the cliffs with top rope climbing
    • Body awareness section
    • City walk in Caposele, visit the Water Museum, and the water springs that feed the world’s longest aqueduct: the Pugliese Aqueduct, one of the most extraordinary hydraulic engineering works ever built by hand in the world.
    • Winetasting and dinner in ancient cantinas carved into the hillsides.
  4. Day 4 Excursion to Amalfi Coast

    • Breakfast
    • Transfer to Salerno by private bus and boat trip to Amalfi. The Amalfi Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is famous for its colorful cliffside villages, breathtaking views, and crystal-clear waters.
    • Explore the breathtaking beauty of this coast at your own pace. You can also continue the boat trip to the famous Positano or reach Ravello by public bus (or taxi) to enjoy stunning coast views.
    • Lunch on your own
    • Boat trip back to Salerno
    • Dinner on your own in Salerno and transfer to accommodation in Caposele
  5. Day 5 Climbing in Cilento National Park and excursion to Cilento Coast

    • After breakfast transfer by private bus to the stunning Cilento National Park
    • In today’s session, you test everything that you have learned in the previous days. You will climb easy routes, and eventually, more challenging routes that offer breathtaking views of the Cilento coastal landscape
    • Picnic lunch.
    • Beach time
    • Final dinner at a restaurant with a sea view in the picturesque old town of Agropoli on the Cilento Coast
  6. Day 6 Journey home
    • Breakfast
    • Transfer to the airport
